Missoni or Missoni Inspired

Missoni is not just one of the worlds most prominent fashion brands, but its aesthetic/technical innovation has forever changed the identity of knitwear and has transpired into inspiration for Interiors.

You may remember this picture from the previous blog post.  This picture inspired me to dedicated this post and to show my love for Missioni fashion.

Creating a rich-layered interior is all about the combination of materials.  It just adds depth and the impact is totally chic.

This bedroom designed by Alex Papachristidis has a fun-groovy meets eccentric glam vibe.  The Missoni inspired print on the bench pulls together all the colors of the bedding and bed-frame.  The nightstands are open to keep a balance of visually light and heavy items in the room.  The neutral walls and flooring let the bed be the focal point of the room.

A fun-eccentric twist to an otherwise structured interior.
Exquisited Zigzags.

Casual, colorful mix and match patterns.

Totally Mod.

The growth of Missoni reflects a keen interest in a home-living style, centered around alternative functional furnishings that echo modern needs.

A way to diverse that stunning zigzag into an Interior.
Gotta have it.

I can't say enough about a style marked by diverse combinations of shade, texture and pattern.

Yes Please.

Perfection.

Used in tone upon tone and tone against tone, the Missoni approach to color gives its products an unmistakably strong character of their own that is instantly recognizable.

Peacock Blue

Need a little color therapy?  How about one of my favorite colors, a deep rich Peacock Blue?  It's that perfect pop of color!

With such a subdued pallet, that pop of Peacock Blue adds a rich drama.

Fun and Hip.  A nice mixture of natural elements through the wood and a pop of energizing Peacock Blue!

How about an elegant and traditional look, with a color shock value?

Texture upon texture brings together this cozy feel with a POP.  The gold-shiny accent tables play off nicely with that Peacock Blue!

The color combination of the furniture selection add vibrancy while keeping the look sophisticated.

Nothing says "cozy-luxe" like velvet in a rich jewel tone.  Velvet doesn't have to be associated with winter, it can really lighten up a room.

Don't be afraid to embrace color, especially when you can surround yourself with touches of summer all winter long.  Remember that paint is not permanent!

Can I please design the sets for Sex and the City?  This was Carrie's and Big's living room in the second movie. Again, a subdued pallet with a mixture of natural elements through the coffee table, mixtures of texture with silk, velvet, and suede.  There is that beautiful contrast between the Yellow/Gold artwork and the Peacock Blue sofa.

Do you remember this little number from the first movie?  Carrie's gorgeous Peacock Blue Blahniks that were left behind in that amazing closet Big built for her.  She never got to move into that closet, but she did wear these to the courthouse on her actual wedding day.

I think Sex and the City is obsessed with Peacocks and Peacock Blue as much as me!

A perfect eye-catching color, literally, to wear with a neutral outfit, such as black.  The trick is knowing how to blend the eyeshadow together.  Use a bit of light shimmery-silver eye-shadow to help blend that rich Peacock Blue.
Blake Lively looks glam and is glowing in this Marchesa Peacock inspired blue.

Lace Inspired

Oh my GOD I die over this...
Beijing Noodle No. 9 located at the Caesars Palace in Las Vegas designed by design spirits co., ltd.  The walls and ceiling feature a white-painted woodland-patterned steel that mimics an elegant arabesque pattern.  This one pattern is used throughout the space to achieve a minimal and visually calm atmosphere in a surrealistic environment.

Rows of sparkling goldfish tanks feel like heaven...

The arabesque patterned shadows appear on the tables, floor, and kitchen appliances to accomplish a cohesive design throughout the space.

So dreamy...

A white ash wood floor is used so it doesn't compete with the elegant arabesque pattern.

I can't get enough of this arabesque shadow effect...

Unlike any other noodle shop.  I can't wait to visit this surrealistic, bright, and ultra clean environment.

Want to add some lace inspired shadow effect in your house?  Try a pierced urn lantern!

I am obsessing over the shadows these pieces create.

The lace patterned media stand adds a bit of femininity to this stark white modern space.

Genius...

I was inspired by lace for one of my Interior Design projects completed my senior year at Florida State University.  To view more of this project click here: coroflot.com/shannonfarris

When you think of white lace you may picture your mothers wedding dress from the early 80's, but this updated use of lace really makes an elegant and modern statement.

 Lace on long-sleeves? This works!

How about black lace? Edgy but elegant.

Show-stopper

Summer Thornton

Summer Thornton (summerthorntondesign.com) is one of my favorite newly found designers.  She has a unique aesthetic mixing colors, fabrics, materials and even styles that don't necessarily fit into a specific category.

Summer's very chic studio with interesting mixes of furniture from different eras.  She just makes it work, and what a fresh take on an office space.
I would love to have a cork-board wall in my studio to display all my inspiration images for my clients.

A blast of fun, light and happy that just speaks to me.  The wallpaper and brick wall create a perfect mix of texture and pattern.

Drop dead wallpaper and fabrics..

... the result, a retro-classic room with a modern edge.
Her unique flavor to this space shows off her eclectic eye for good design.  Thinking about getting rid of an old filling drawer?  How about using it as a side table?!
Chic and dramatic.  I want to lounge here.

She juxtaposes elegant grays and yellows.  The graphic gray and white fabric on the sofa pops beautifully with the charcoal color textured wall-covering.  The huge horse painting just anchors the space.
I like to call this Grandma Chic.  What is your favorite Grandma Chic?

 Stunning...
I adore these Lanvin for HM floral shoes.
